William Hospital, Nagercoil, originally known as the National Hospital was founded by Dr.V.Chellackon in the year 1948, after his retirement from Government Services at Colachel Government Hospital. His work was mainly community based which constituted maternal and child health care. Later his son Dr.William MBBS who joined his father in practice after 20 years of service at Catherine Booth Hospital (Mission Hospital). As there were no facilities to admit inpatients in the clinic at Vadasery, he bought the land where the present William Hospital is located. In 1971, Dr.W.Samson Chellackon M S, M D, D G O, took charge of the National Hospital and renamed it William Hospital after his father. After Dr.Samson Chellackon his only son Dr.S.William Charles M S, (Laparoscopic Surgeon & Endoscopist) and his wife Dr.Susan William MBBS., DNB (O&G)., FICOG., Dip.Gynae endoscopy (Germany)., (Obstetrician, Gynae Endoscopist & Infertility Specialist) Clinical director is a dedicated and caring Obstetrician & Gynaecologist with more than 20 years of experience in clinical practice. This hospital has been upgraded with specialists in various fields of medicine since the past five years with various departments under her eminent leadership and guidance.
